New York City

So we just pulled into Lancaster Co. and the kids are finally in the pool and they are totally excited. The little things that make them happy...

Yesterday we made our way to New York City and watched the Seattle Mariners play the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. This is the final year any games will played at Yankee Stadium so it is a historical event for the students to see this Major League Baseball game (plus they got to see our home team!) We had to leave at the bottom of the 8th inning and the Mariners were up but of course the home team always wins.

After the game we drove through the Bronx and checked-in at our hotel in Manhattan. The kids spruced up and the girls looked beautiful and the boys looked handsome as we walked through Times Square to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre where we watched the play Grease. The play was great, Max and Laura are the two leads, they were choosen from NBC's "You're the One That I Want" reality show last year. Cody Greene from Bravo's "Step It Up and Dance" was also in the play.

Next we went to Times Square and had our group photo taken. Julie texted me and she found a live feed on the internet and she saw the kids and we were able to wave into space!!! That was cool. *Julie, I need to get that site from you so I can give it to parent's next year.

Once our photos were taken we went to Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square for dinner, then we walked back to the hotel and headed to bed. It was a late night and early morning for the kids.

This morning the kids were up early and had a bus tour of Manhattan and the different areas of the city (Soho, The Villiage, etc.) and got to see Trinity Church (where National Treasure was shot) and the site of 9/11 and we ended up at Battery Park where we caught the ferry and rode by the Statue of Liberty and got off at Ellis Island. The kids got headsets and were able to walk around and discover what it was like to have come through Ellis Island as a young person in the early 1900's.

After the tour of Ellis Island we walked by the famous bull and then back to the 9/11 site and the church across the street. We then headed down Wall Street and saw the New York Stock Exchange and continued on to lunch at the South Street Seaport. After lunch we boarded the bus and drove by the UN and dropped the kids off on 5th Avenue for some shopping!

We have just unloaded the bus in Lancaster, the kids are swimming and we are having a yummy pizza, stromboli and salad dinner in about an hour. Then the kids will get their bed time story read by Mr. Krohn and then will do a writing activity and head to bed for our action packed day tomorrow where they are excited for lunch in Intercourse, PA.
